Helping out at Volunteering Week

Some members of the club joined in with Comunity action week last term, painting wendy houses at Christchurch school in Virginia Waters.  After sanding down the houses the team gave them all a fresh coat of paint transforming the school playground and giving the children new looking play equiptment. Another group of players helped sort books in the school library. Everyone who took part have had their volenteering hours registered with comunity action, and will count towards the passport scheme or V awards. Thank you to everyone who came out to help, the school really appriciated everyone's hard work!

A bit about Lacrosse...

Lacrosse was thought to have been created in the 13th Century to settle arguments between native americans. The French were the frist to adopt the sport in 1637 where they named the sport Lacrosse. In 1856 the rules were drawn up by Dr William Beers. The sport continued to grow across america and canada, leading to to be Canada's national sport today. The game split into Men's and Women's in the 20th century and the rules were changed accordingly. The sport became popular in the UK in the 1930's with Women's lacrosse being more popular across independent schools. Lacrosse was the first female sport played at Royal Holloway dating back to at least 1888. The following document outlines the rules of all three games and includes a glossary of common Lacrosse terms to get you started...
